SXSW Gaming Happy Hour: provided decorating support for Bandai Namco Research Institute’s AI DJ event.

REAL EVENT

SXSW (South by Southwest), held in Austin Texas, is a large-scale event for music, movies, interactive contents and more.
In the event, we were honored to assist construction of Bandai Namco Research Institute’s AI DJ event at the SXSW Gaming Happy Hour.
Working at a big event where the whole city was in a festive mood was an exciting experience from start to finish.
Among other aspects of the event, the main focus was the giant monitor and a on-stage DJ booth where the AI character “Mirai Komachi” and the intelligent DJ system “Elmiraive” would be displayed. By interacting with the audiences’ reaction, Mirai Komachi selects the most suitable music for the moment while she changes her movement to fit the music. All of these things give the audience a more realistic and immersive experience. We even brought in real authentic DJ equipment to the booth as decoration.

Because the site of the event was not an exhibition hall and instead a hotel restaurant, carrying in materials proved to be a major hurdle as other events were being held in the venue. In addition to this, the limited time for construction meant that we needed to use the Sakura Internationals full experience and know-hows to assess the site conditions, confirm them with the client, and give precise instructions on how to proceed with the project.

Thanks to the advance publicity on our website as well as from various medias, there was a line of people waiting before the doors opened. The guests were very pleased with the success of the event.
